MYSOSEO Foundation had the pleasure of conducting an interview with the members of Rolling Quartz before their concert, which took place on February 7, 2025, at the Proxima Club in Warsaw. This was their second time visiting our country to ignite the stage once again and captivate the audience with their untamed energy – true Rock and Roll at its best!
Rolling Quartz debuted on December 30, 2020, with the single „Blaze,” immediately marking their presence on the rock scene. Since then, they have continuously evolved their style, surprising everyone with fresh energy. Five talented artists: Jayoung (vocals), Arem (bass), Iree (lead guitar), Yeongeun (drums), and Hyunjung (rhythm guitar) boldly experiment with sound, delivering a powerful dose of guitar riffs and strong vibes for their fans.
Over the years, they have released tracks like „Fearless,” „RE.BOLD,” „Stand Up,” and „Azalea,” which solidified their position in the rock world. In 2024, they took another groundbreaking step by releasing their first full album, „Victory.”
How does the creative process of Rolling Quartz look like? How did the pandemic, instead of being an obstacle, become a springboard to international success? The band members shared with us key moments of their career and their journey to the global stages. The interview was conducted by the MYSOSEO Foundation.

How did your musical journey begin, performing for audiences worldwide?
Yeongeun: We never imagined we would have so many fans all over the world! At first, we just wanted to play music we love and have fun doing it. But thanks to the huge support from our fans (Diadem), we had the chance to travel the world, something that seemed like an impossible dream before. Even though we are currently on tour, it’s sometimes hard to believe that this is really happening! We’ll keep working hard to meet even more Diadems around the world!
Iree: Because we couldn’t perform live due to the pandemic, we started posting our recordings on YouTube. Thanks to this, we were able to connect with people from around the world..
What does the creative process of Rolling Quartz look like? What is your favorite part of making music?
Jayoung: The creative process varies with each song, but usually, I create the overall sketch and send the demo to the rest of the band. Sometimes we make decisions together, and other times, I make the final choice. The final version goes to our producer, who helps to refine the details. For me, the most exciting part is creating the demo. I usually work 6-8 hours a day. At home, I think about the recordings I will make the next day in the studio, and when I’m in the studio, I think about how I can improve the instrumental track back home – and it goes on like that. I also get great satisfaction from turning virtual instrument sounds into real recordings!
Iree: I believe the greatest joy comes from when the melody and lyrics perfectly express what I wanted to convey.
What part of a song excites you the most? The lyrics, melody, drums, or bass line?
Jayoung: In each song, different parts are „climactic points,” so waiting for these moments is a lot of fun! I really enjoy the intense parts of the interludes (a musical break adding dynamics, appearing between choruses and verses).
Hyunjung: In our band, each of us has a very distinctive playing style, so in every song, you can find different standout moments – I think that’s a cool feature for listeners. As a musician, I am the happiest when I see progress in improving my skills. At times, the progress is so slow that it’s hard to notice at the moment, and sometimes it’s frustrating. But when I look back after a long time and realize how much I’ve developed, I feel a huge sense of satisfaction. When something that was once difficult for me suddenly becomes easy, that gives me great joy.
Iree: Our songs contain elements where vocal lines, melodies, and instrument rhythms intertwine – that makes listening to them really interesting!
What does the sound of the band mean to you? How do you define your identity?
Jayoung: The band’s sound forms in several stages. First, it comes from the individual playing styles and vocals of each member. Secondly, it’s shaped in collaboration with sound engineers, both during recordings and live performances. Ultimately, it’s the interactions with our listeners and audience that gives the sound its full shape.
Iree: Our music and sound represent our personality and also a way of communicating – the kind of language we use to connect with people. In the end, however, it’s the fans who define the identity of our band. 🙂
Yeongeun: That’s why some classify us as K-pop, and others see us as Hard Rock/Metal. Both descriptions are correct.
Arem: We grew up in Korea, listening to both K-pop and Rock. We collaborate with teams from both Korea and abroad, and our fan community spans the globe…
Hyunjung: …and we are women. 🙂 Ultimately, our own vision and the way fans perceive us have merged to give us the identity of a K-Rock Girl Band.

How did you find harmony as a band? Was it easy from the beginning, or did it require compromises?
Arem: Most of us have similar musical tastes, and if we differ, we try to adapt to each other. This way, despite our individual differences, as a whole we create harmony.
Iree: We are a group of people with different personalities and styles, so compromises were necessary. We’ve learned to yield and find common ground. The fact that we have different tastes makes it exciting to add our own colors to certain parts of the songs.
How do you decide on the direction of your future projects?
Arem: We make decisions together – both as a band and with our label. We all present our ideas and analyze them together.
Iree: First, we create a demo of the song, and then, based on its mood, we share suggestions and consult them with the label.
What emotions do you experience before stepping on stage?
Hyunjung: I feel excited, but also a lot of stress and nervousness. The fact that the fans are waiting for us makes me excited, but at the same time, I feel a huge sense of responsibility not to disappoint them. When I’m on stage, I feel very happy! But when I make a mistake, I feel bad, especially in front of the fans. I will try and make sure to make every moment on stage full of joy and happiness for both us and the fans!
Arem: I get nervous. Sometimes I even think that I’m a little scared. But once we get on stage, it all disappears like magic. When I see the smiling faces of the fans, all my fear vanishes. There are fans who say, „Thanks to you, my life became brighter” and „Thank you for making me happy” – I feel that way too. It’s because of you that I can perform happily. I’m always sincerely grateful for that.
Iree: I’m much more excited to see which people we’ll have fun with on stage today! On one hand, I feel excited, but sometimes I also have concerns: “Will I be able to do this well?”
Your performances are always intense and full of energy. Polish fans really love it! What are your memories from the first concert in Poland?
Jayoung: The last concert of our first European tour took place in Warsaw. I still remember the immense enthusiasm and energy of the audience – I was really surprised! I felt happy that we could end the tour in such a wonderful way. It’s one of the cities I’m most excited about this time too!
Yeongeun: During concerts, I’m usually a little further from the audience than the other members, so I can’t always fully feel the fans’ energy. But in Poland, the reaction was so loud and explosive that it simply swept me away! Thank you for experiencing this moment with us!
Iree: I remember how powerful and passionate your cheers were! The Polish audience is really incredibly energetic and full of power!
The last Rolling Quartz concert was a turning point, showing that K-Rock is more than just a powerful sound. Their performance proved that the true magic of music lies in the ability to form a deep, emotional connection with the audience. During the performance, you could hear the girls say „I love you” in Polish and other popular phrases that often appear at concerts in Poland. These moments added to the concert’s unique atmosphere, allowing everyone to feel part of something extraordinary.
The minimalist stage design highlighted the girls and their instruments, allowing the audience to focus fully on their sounds and the main vocalist’s voice. Each member had the chance to showcase their skills during solos, which were not only displays of technique but also expressions of their artistic personalities. Polish Diadems welcomed this with great enthusiasm, appreciating not only the precision but also the charisma of the artists on stage.
Additionally, the girls highlighted the Polish staff on their Instagram, which was the first such gesture on their European tour from a Korean band. Rolling Quartz’s performance in Poland was not just a concert – it was a declaration of their identity and style, which will forever remain in the memory of Polish fans. The band showed that music knows no boundaries, and their energy and passion allows them to connect with people from different corners of the world, creating an unforgettable bond between the artists and the audiences.
