Can love be a universal language in today’s music scene?
Jimmy Brown, the South Korean R&B artist, proves that it can – and does so with remarkable ease. His music blends smooth vocals, subtle falsetto, and emotional depth that resonates with listeners worldwide. Although he has worked independently for years, gaining over a million monthly listeners on Spotify, he is now opening a new chapter as an artist with JWIN Entertainment, ready for his upcoming world tour.
In this interview, Jimmy Brown opens up about the making of Six Mile to Seoul, his international collaboration with Rahul Rajkhowa, and why Seoul holds a special place in his heart. He reflects on love — both in life and in music — and on the journey of growing into his own sound. For Jimmy, every song is a space where emotions turn into stories — and today, he invites us to listen.
Congratulations on your new collaborative EP, Six Mile to Seoul — it’s such a heartfelt fusion of cultures and sounds.
How did this collaboration with Rahul Rajkhowa come to life, and what made this project feel so special for you personally?
Jimmy: We started working on this a couple of years ago, which is rare for me. Usually, once I start something, I just want to put it out right away. So taking our time with this project really meant we were grinding. Rahul’s such a good person even when we were working remotely, we stayed connected. That made it all the more special.
This EP is called Six Mile to Seoul — and I’d love to ask you: what does Seoul mean to you?
Jimmy: I wouldn’t trade Seoul for any other city (except the countryside where I grew up). It’s got amazing food, exciting places to see, and energetic people. I’m a foodie, so that matters a lot to me!
I listened to the EP and it’s brilliant — my favorite track is Fuse. I personally love listening to R&B songs like that while driving — there’s just something about it that feels so cinematic. What inspired you to create music in this genre? Was it a sound you always connected with, or something you grew into over time?
Jimmy: I grew up with ballads that was always the vibe in our culture. But when I was 17, studying in Australia, I heard a pop song called Hey There Delilah and it hit me hard. After that, I started buying CDs from Chris Brown and Kanye West, and that changed everything. Since then, R&B has just been my vibe, it became my life.
You’ve been an independent artist for years. These days, it feels like more and more artists choose to stay independent — so I’m curious: what made you take the step to sign with JWIN Entertainment at this point in your career?
Jimmy: I wanted to explore more than just releasing music, though I’ll always keep doing that. The CEO of JWIN is someone I truly trust. He has a big vision for the future, and that made it a win-win for both of us.
You’re preparing for your upcoming album — what new things do you want to share with your fans this time? Is there a particular direction or feeling you’re leaning into?
Jimmy: As I always say, my music, this whole journey is about love. Nothing but love. This time, it’s me in my most mature and refined form. And it’s all produced by my brother Dwayne.
You’re such a good songwriter — especially when it comes to love. You don’t just describe feelings — you build a whole atmosphere around them. How do you shape the imagery and emotional landscape in your lyrics? As a listener, I feel like you’re guiding me through your vision, not just telling a story.
Jimmy: Thank you, that really means a lot. I think good songs resonate with people no matter what their situation or feelings are. It’s about building a big picture that everyone can step into. When I write, my intention is always to express how great love is and how powerful our loves are.
Your 2023 tour was a success. How will this upcoming world tour be different? Are there new elements you’re excited to explore on stage?
Jimmy: At the core, it’s always about showing up for my beloved fans, that’s my priority. But the biggest difference this time? New music! Haha. I’m really excited to be back on stage with fresh songs.
Are there any countries (maybe… Poland?) or cities (like… Warsaw?) you’re especially excited to visit on tour — and why?
I mean, no pressure, but I’ve heard that Polish fans are next level when it comes to energy!
Jimmy: Poland! No doubt! I’d love to be there, meet all the beautiful faces, and feel that energy. Love you guys!
For Jimmy, music is an ongoing story about love — a story with many faces — and his fans are an inseparable part of it. His upcoming world tour is just one of many reasons to keep an eye on his artistic journey. With his energy, authenticity, and passion, his concerts promise to be an unforgettable experience for every fan of Korean music. Be sure to follow him on social media and check out his EP Six Mile to Seoul.
